MARTINA DRESLER

I am a Munich born artist currently living in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. I did my art education by studying Graphic Arts in Munich, Germany. After my diploma I worked in the film industry, computer and media industry. I was always drawing and painting but becoming an professional artist started when I came to the UAE.

I began with portraiture where I developed a fascination with drawing the eyes of my subjects. I believe, eyes are the window to a person’s soul and if you capture their essence in your drawing you will have captured their inner being.
Coming to landscape painting, I soon moved away from the more naturalistic interpretations of the world around me.
Rather I began abstracting what I saw, looking for deeper meaning behind what was just on the surface. In so doing I began discovering myself and what was beneath my own surface through my art. Painting was like peeling away the layers gradually revealing hidden truths about myself.

This way of discovering truths about myself helped me and I started to see a huge development not just in myself, but my art and how I related to the world around me. This brought me to another decision, to assist others in finding their own truth and path. By using my gift as a way of guiding and helping others along their own roads of discovery and healing I started offering painting workshops specifically designed to use art as a tool for releasing what we trapped inside ourselves.
'Art is a healer and art also speaks to us; from deep down from our inner being we get healing signals. And intuitive painting is is like channeling or hand reading.'
My intuition and life experience created an opportunity for what I call ‘Intuitive Painting’ and Art Therapy’. I eventually took this a step further, and now I am a practicing art therapist and life coach working in the United Arab Emirates.

Many have benefitted from my skill and wisdom in finding what traps them and prevents them from finding their true inner potential. My own artistic process allows me to discover myself. It is something that is constantly evolving and growing. My paintings are a channel for my own learning process as well as the spirit of my clients. My commissions and acrylic and gouache paintings are based on an inner process and my insights into my client’s emotions and needs allow me to create something unique for them that they can really relate to, rather than just a decorative canvas hanging on a blank wall.

I believe art needs to be something we can all communicate with and relate to. My commissioned work allows me to really get to know my clients and give them something they can commune with as well as something beautiful to hang on their walls. I consciously uses chakra based colours that reflect my own spiritual growth and allows the client to connect with it on a deeper and more intuitive level. Because my paintings are not naturalistic representations it allows anyone to “find” and interpret a certain aspect of themselves within the painting.
